Music therapy programs are regularly implemented in various departments of the Children’s Hospitals of Athens, including the Child Psychiatry Unit for adolescents, the Oncology Units, Intensive Care Units, and the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit.
Music therapy is a research-based therapeutic intervention practiced by certified professionals. Music therapists use carefully designed musical interventions based on the physical, developmental, and psychosocial needs of children. The aim is to achieve individualized therapeutic goals such as stress and pain management, facilitating and expanding communication, creative and emotional expression and supporting the family unit.
